About Glimt
One sentence
Glimt is a breathing reminder app for Mac and Windows that guides you through a short breathing exercise during the workday and pauses itself while you’re on a call.
One paragraph
Glimt is a desktop app for people who spend long days at a computer and forget to breathe properly while they work. At an interval you set, a breathing orb appears over whatever you’re doing and paces you through a short exercise such as box breathing or 4-7-8, then gets out of the way. It pauses automatically when your microphone or camera is in use, so it never interrupts a call. Glimt runs on macOS 13 and Windows 10 or later and costs $39 once, with no subscription.
Full story
Long stretches of focused screen work tend to make breathing shallow and irregular, and most people only notice once they are already tense. Breathing apps exist, but most live on a phone and depend on the user remembering to open them.
Glimt lives on the desktop, where the work happens, and does the remembering. It sits in the menu bar on macOS and the system tray on Windows, and within the active hours you choose it shows a breathing prompt over your work. A short countdown settles you in, an animated orb paces each inhale, hold and exhale, and the session ends on its own. Snooze and skip are always one click away.
Smart Pause detects when the microphone or camera is active and holds reminders until the call is over; it only checks whether the devices are in use and never records audio or video. Micro reminders are a lighter option: a small orb in the corner of the screen guides a few breaths and fades away without a click. Playlists chain several breathing patterns into one longer session, and statistics and streaks show how many sessions you complete against a daily goal. On macOS, sessions can run Apple Shortcuts when they start or end, for example to pause music or turn on a Focus mode.
Glimt is made in Norway. A personal licence costs $39 as a one-time purchase with no subscription; business licences cost $28 per seat for teams of 5 or more.
